Educational Psychologists with specialist skills and understanding of Autism work within the Enfield Advisory Service for Autism contributing towards the multi-professional team. Educational Psychologists offer interventions in schools including: pupil and peer awareness of autism (individual and group), Circle of Friends, CBT & Mindfulness, Narrative and other forms of therapeutic interventions, PEERS® evidence-based social skills programme, and the 5P Approach to help manage behaviour change. Along with other professionals Educational Psychologists support in the delivery of Making a Positive Start for Autism (MAPS) which helps parents of children under the age of 6 in Enfield understand and support their children’s needs. Educational Psychologists run the Cygnet parent support and information sessions! This is on offer to Enfield parents who have a child diagnosed with autism aged 6-18. They run every term and include information on autism: communication and interaction, sensory differences and behaviour. Additional sessions run on sibling relationships, and on puberty, sexual wellbeing & relationships. We are also involved in the delivery of Autism Education Trust and bespoke training.
